STEM Thinking (3)

There is alot of Jobs out their that would require a sense of Scientific and Mathmateics skills. but almost every single job has some way been influenced by the new techknoldgey. My job(s) I plan on pursuing is Military and also FBI. They do do with a lot of Mathmaticas and Techknolodgy skills and updates. The jobs I plan on pursuing in really dont go along with our game, So I guess you can say it is an indirect way.

STEM thinking (2)

Well we have been giving an assignment to say what we think the three(3)scientific discoveries or inventions are and why.

The three Scientific discoveries that effected the world would be bone marrow transplants, cars, and weapons. The reason I chose these three is because the bone marrow transplants can save someones life. I chose cars because it makes for traveling, and transporting good easier. The last but not least I chose weapons, guns, because in different situations they can help you tremendously, then again they can harm you to. Such as in the military they help us overcome an Enime and complete our mission and defend our freedom and country, same as a civilian using a gun defending his home from someone coming to rob him. The downfall for weapons(guns) is that they are able to take someones life

Stem Thinking(1)

well we have been giving an assignment to write about our hardest stem topic of our game.

I believe our hardest STEM concept we use would be education. Because of the fact we have to persuade the player that music education is good for learning and helps you understand better if you are in a calm area.

Sound Effects

Well today I did the "Sound Effects" topic.

The topic was pretty much easy to follow and learned a little more in depth of the "adding Sound" topic We did a while back as a class. This helps us out for the whole game for we are adding a song that Heaths band has made and allowing us to use

Platforms.

Well we recently did the topic of "Platforms" this is to make platforms so your character cant go past the "boundaries".

The Topic we used was pretty simple and self explanatory. I enjoyed working with it learned a lot from it. We needed to use this for our last mini game where Blake is chasing the truck and without the boundaries he could "fly" in a way. With the "platforms" he has to go on and stay on the road.

Collision Detection

We did our topic on "Collision Detection". I thought this topic was one of the easier the the other ones we have done here is a preview of what it will help with in our game.

Scoring

The topic we've started today is "Scoring." It's going to take awhile for the team to fully apply this topic, as we need to put scoring in throughout our game at the moments, but I have gone through a few tutorials and feel we know enough to be able to finish a blog on the subject.

This is the easier function. For our game, we'll be using scores on buttons, which is the easiest form of scoring. It requires only a text field with variables set at total and a few lines of additional code on each button.

Scrolling Background

Well for one of our resources we had to go through for our team was the "Scrolling Background" for the last minigame in our game for when Blake has to chase the Music Truck. The process of the game was pretty much simple they just show us the code and tell us basically what to change to make the code fit for the game such as the variables, and other simple things like that

"Learning From Others"

Well today we did another Development Topic of Learning From Others The topic was a kinda review of what we learned around the begening of the year. Just basically we had a "refresher" topic. We had to look at different tutorials to see if we could find something that would help us in our game for part of this topic as well and I was only able to find one that would help us out if we elect to do our countdown timer for our last minigame on our game of "Blake chasing the truck"

again here is the link to the:

Programming Practices

Well today we went over the topic or development area of "Programming Practice." The topic was pretty good. All of the videos or links that was on the area was the correct place and was loaded right to go along with the video.

Anyways, I enjoyed it and learned a few things such as how some actionscript programers leave comments for others to see, and also how more of the codes can work and how you can keep them from "looping"

some tutorials/videos I found that was useful was:
ActionScript 2.0
Coding Conventions
video Basic ActionScript
ActionScript Coding

Action Script

Well a couple weeks ago before the major snow storm we had recently, that kept us from coming to school. So, There was some things that didn't work well such as the video tutorial that we tried to watch. The Video didn't work because the video was going slower then how the guy was talking. Then a website we was supposed to go to didn't work well because it took us too another website instead of the intended site we was supposed to go to.

Some awesome things we did and was able to accomplish was changing the speed variables, distance, and points system. I really enjoyed doing this because it was able to show us how just a quick minor/major change can effect the game tremendously.

Team Presentation

Well Tuesday we done our Presentation of what our game is consisting of as of a semester of working on it. Our Strengths would be our Presentation preparedness, performance, collaboration, game concept explained. all except for the fact, as usually, JC not being here. Our weakness would have to be our Game Development Explained. I think we will more "enlighten" our presentation on our Presentation. Also I believe we will explain our Game Development more in depth then we did in the First Presentation.

I believe the best presentation would have to be by "The Epic Failz". I believe this would be because they really had an "enlighten" presentation and explained everything very well. The only one bad thing they had would the Presentation Prepardness, which was just the fact not having the game up and ready.

What Is my Dream Job?

Well my dream job has changed since last year. I was originally wanting to do web design or computer repair. It has now made a very drastic change into some kind of Law Enforcement such as FBI, CIA, and maybe a few years in SWAT while in the regular Police for the first few years to just get a jump start on the Police Field.

Before I even try to get into the Police Field I will be doing by training for the military (Basic and AIT). Then College for my degree in Criminal Justice. My degree in Criminal Justice will help me be more of a priority in the job field that involves the police field. Also after college I will go to the police academy and then get a job in the typically state police. After a few years I will try to get in on with the FBI or CIA.

This class hasn't really helped me towards my job unless I'm going to be an computer operator for the FBI but that really isn't the way I see myself later on in my life.

Soldiers In Christmas Spirit

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light, I gazed round the room
and I cherished the sight. My wife was asleep, her head on my chest, My
daughter beside me, angelic in rest. Outside the snow fell, a blanket of
white, Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

The sparkling lights in the tree I believe, Completed the magic that was
Christmas Eve. My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep, Secure and
surrounded by love I would sleep. In perfect contentment, or so it would
seem, So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn’t loud, and it wasn’t too near, But I opened my eyes when
it tickled my ear.. Perhaps just a cough, I didn’t quite know, Then the
sure sound of footsteps outside in the snow. My soul gave a tremble, I
struggled to hear, And I crept to the door just to see who was near.

Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night, A lone figure stood,
his face weary and tight. A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold. Alone in the dark, he looked up
and smiled, Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.

“What are you doing?” I asked without fear, ”Come in this moment, it’s
freezing out here! Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home on a cold Christmas Eve!” For barely a moment I saw
his eyes shift, Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..

To the window that danced with a warm fire’s light Then he sighed and he
said “Its really all right, I’m out here by choice. I’m here every night.”
“It’s my duty to stand at the front of the line, That separates you from
the darkest of times.

No one had to ask or beg or implore me, I’m proud to stand here like my
fathers before me. My Gramps died at ‘Pearl on a day in December,” Then he
sighed, “That’s a Christmas ‘Gram always remembers.” My dad stood his watch
in the jungles of ‘Nam’, And now it is my turn and so, here I am.

I’ve not seen my own son in more than a while, But my wife sends me
pictures, he’s sure got her smile. Then he bent and he carefully pulled
from his bag, The red, white, and blue… an American flag. I can live
through the cold and the being alone, Away from my family, my house and my
home.

I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet, I can sleep in a
foxhole with little to eat. I can carry the weight of killing another, Or
lay down my life with my sister and brother.. Who stand at the front
against any and all, To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall..”

” So go back inside,” he said, “harbor no fright, Your family is waiting
and I’ll be all right.” ”But isn’t there something I can do, at the least,
“Give you money,” I asked, “or prepare you a feast? It seems all too little
for all that you’ve done, For being away from your wife and your son.”

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret, ”Just tell us you love us,
and never forget. To fight for our rights back at home while we’re gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long. For when we come home, either
standing or dead, To know you remember we fought and we bled. Is payment
enough, and with that we will trust, That we mattered to you as you
mattered to us.”

PLEASE, would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people
as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S
service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities.
Let’s try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people
stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for
us.

Game Assembly

Well to complete this task, Heath got all of the game files from The team members. Once Heath had them all, Heath had to put them all onto one flash file. Before Heath could copy a file, though, Heath had to rename the library items so that no two items were alike. Then Heath would copy it from one file and paste it into the next open frame on the main file. That's all there is to it. Just time and patience.
Our blog assignment also said to write how I would make a better impact about my topic if I had money, influence, and power. So..... I would do my best to get music education more impressed into the school system. Students need to learn about music; it's been around since the beginning of time and now is dying. I would buy instruments, videos, books, and anything else I could for the children to learn with. That's really all I know to say about the topic.
So here is the file with all of our game scenes for you to look at. Still needs a lot of work, but we will finish eventually. So until next time!

Adding Interaction

Well today we worked on the topic adding interaction. I thought this assignment was very simple. The steps/instructions was very easy to understand and self explained.

The class is going very well up to this point. I really enjoy working with and drawing in flash. Why you may ask. That's simple, because I'm learning new things and I love to learn new things.

The game idea of team Klangfarbenmelodie is to educate the people that music in education is helpful. There is many study's that have been done that proves that music playing at a reasonable level has increased the level of intelligence in many ways. Although there is studies that has felled due to the level of volume of the music. In other words if the volume level is a big issue in these studies such as: the louder the volume level then the remembrance from the study will be a failure but the more reasonable level of volume will be a more suitable environment to be able to remember the information you study. our game will contain levels ranging from action levels all the way up to enteractive levels I wont go into great detail of the game because we want the game to be a surprise to you.

Some of the learning experiences on this topic our team has chosen would be the different results we found from the studies of music involvement in education.

Some things I’m looking forward to learning would be how exactly in more specific ways that music helps education.

Adding Animation

Well for some odd reason I was forgetting to do the blog on adding animation when we did the topic of "Adding Animation" so I guess I'll have to do it now.

Anyways back to the topic. Adding animation was a pretty cool. SOme of the button templates or instructions to use was not so self explaning but it was simple to work out if we took the time to work it out and mess around with some things.

I would sya the cooliest thing about adding animation was learning how the buttons was laid out and how it would work. There is some animation I admire in other gmes would me from the gods of war games. I admire that because it is so in depth and a very well constructed animated game.

Adding Sound

Well today is our first day back from Thanksgiving Break and we are now working on how to add sound to our scenes. This topic is showing us and informing us to make sure we keep the sound so it wont be as annoying as some games has out there. Importance of sound is very important because it can tell a story line of a game or even help you through the game to achieve something

Class Overview

Well today Our wonderful Teacher gave us an assignment to make a blog post about what we think about this class, what has been the best part of the class, what we would chan ge about this class, and what was our favorite assignment we have done so far.

Well I really enjoy this class I'm learning alot about flash and other coding that I thought I had knew before coming in here but I came to realize that there is so much more. If I had the option to change anything about this class I would'nt because everything is really elaboriated and done step by step. I enjoy how Mrs Halsey is grading us on our work. I would defentialy recommend a friend to take this class because it gives you a great basis on coding and new ways to do things with the computer and also picture enhancment.

The assignment I had the most fun with was the Shape tween here

Adding Navigation

Well we have been working on how to add navigation in flash it has been very cool to work on but we are having trouble doing the motion tween by grid is very confusing and isn't explained very well, but I'm sure we can get it. All around it was moderate level but the grid motion tween is the hardest part

Updated
Well we finally got the motion tween done and it was simple after we took time to finally work around with some things. The instructions we went by had left out a few steps but we figured them out. I guess you can say we are PROS =).

Here is a link to the guided motion tween, with a little bit of sound. here
